Solitud / Solitude (Loneliness)

Salut i poca solitud!

Solitude: state of one being alone, living alone or almost alone. That's how the catalan encyclopedia defines solitude.
If we look at it, it doesn't say "state of one feeling alone" (in catalan "solitud" it's used for both solitude and loneliness). Curious. Curious cos fisically one can be alone a lot of hours along the day but not feeling alone at any time. And that's the important point, not to feel alone. To know, wherever you are, even miles away from your people, that you are not alone.
You can be surrounded by many people: people you meet, colleagues at work, colleagues at school, family, people from the pub, roommates, etc. but you can feel alone, far from what's around you. For me, it is in this point when there is loneliness.
The most important is not the amount of people around you but to know that you can count on them, whenever it is needed. At that's beatiful, we should be thankful for that.
But why so many people feel alone nowadays? I'm not 100% sure, but I do have my own theory; few times we show our feelings, either good or bad ones, and few times we are thankful to others (either when we go to buy bread, something basic, either when a friend helps us). We are afraid of showing our feelings, as if it was a sign of weakness, and I think here is the problem. Above all, communication is needed. If we act like empty sheets of paper our life will stay empty too, and no one will read us cos no one cares about empty sheets. But, if we act like sheets full of stories, emotions and feelings people will read us, will listen to us and will communicate with us.

Therefore my conclusion is: let others see you, communicate with them and be thankful!

Salut i poca solitud! (Cheers and few loneliness!).
